STADIUM TOUR // OOTD

I never imagined myself wearing yellow or orange, so even I have impressed myself here. Of course the one time I am in this bright colour, it's for The Biebs. Bieber Purpose Tour merchandise has always been my weakness, and this time was no different. Tiff dragged me to H&M to check out his new line when I was trying not to shop. But turns out, this is one of my favourite hoodies to date, so thanks Tiff! This is an outfit we photographed back in November, but it's starting to get warm again, so I'm hoping to put this outfit on a few more times before hoodie season ends.

Since I saw this hoodie, I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it and of course that called for an OOTD post! I sized up to a Medium so that it would fit comfortably as both a sweater as well as a dress. I think what really drew me to this select line of Purpose Tour merchandise, other than the fact that it's Justin Bieber of course, is that I have an undying love for street wear. Especially in a time where athleisure wear and street wear are very popular, Justin Bieber’s tour-wear is one of the most recognized celebrity merch collections, that not only are people defining him through his music, but his fashion line as well.

I still wore a bodycon dress underneath for safety measures and accessorized with only some fishnets and thigh high boots. I was very indifferent about the entire fishnet trend for a long time, until I made a shuffle video in collaboration with another dancer, and she recommended that we wear fishnets. I went out to buy some, shot the video (you can't even see them in the video lol) but once I tried them on, I quickly fell in love. Styling them was a lot easier than I initially thought since they provide a natural "casual-cool" vibe.

So if you're anything like myself and you find comfort in wearing only neutral colours, take it from me: don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone once in a while. Whether it's colours, prints, or a general style, it might help you find pieces you love even more because they're different from what you already own. And it may even influence the diversity of your own personal style, just like I never really envisioned myself in fishnets, but now I look for reasons to wear them! Maybe I just love this outfit so much because I know that somewhere out there, Justin Bieber would approve. That being said, I am not allowed to buy any more hoodies. Tiff, stop influencing me.

SWEATER WEATHER // OOTD

Tiff and I stopped by Miller's Farm & Market in Manotick to pick out some pumpkins and it wouldn't be a Tifflo outing without a photoshoot, of course. It is safe to say that the Fall season is always associated with the coziest knit sweaters or cardigans such as the one I'm wearing but ironically enough, it was most definitely not a sweater weather type of day. Especially here in Ottawa, warm weather this late into October is an unusual thing. But don't get me wrong, I loved experiencing one last taste of Summer before the real Canadian weather hits.

In fact, it was almost a little too hot. With a high of 22 degrees, it was such a beautiful day to search for the perfect pumpkin. Although I have been anticipating the day that my knitwear makes its debut again, I only had my layers on for a few photos before I couldn't handle the heat any longer. If definitely didn't help having to lug around a fat pumpkin in the blazing sun. Regardless, we must have had a lot of fun, seeing as we ended up spending almost three hours there.

This OOTD is brought to you by the "Basic Bitch Fall Essentials Club". Did you say flannel? Thigh-high boots? Beanie? I am a proud member of this club and I am here to whole-heartedly embrace my inner basic bitch. Everything you see here in this outfit are all items that I can not live without. Therefore, not only is this an OOTD, but consider it my guide of Fall essentials that I believe everyone needs to have in their closet.

Let's start with this cardigan that I recently found at Zara. I know that thick wool cardigans seem like an obvious must-have but more specifically, find one that has an oversized fit, so that it allows you to layer underneath it for additional warmth. I love that the sleeves are super wide so it can even fit another chunky sweater, because nothing is worse than becoming a real life Michelin man with immobile arms. This cardigan is also available in gray and olive green, so I highly recommend it! I know that I will be wearing this cardigan well throughout Winter too.

Underneath the cardigan, I threw on a mesh t-shirt that I haven't stopped wearing since I got it a few months ago. Whenever I don't know what to wear, this is always the top that I reach for. I love that the mesh adds a twist to a regular, classic black t-shirt so not only is it timeless, but also versatile. On warmer days, you can wear it with only a bralette/bandeau if you're opting for a more scandalous look or on cooler days, simply pair it with other layers as I did here.

I've got to admit - my flannel addiction is completely out of control. I have one entire dresser drawer designated to only my flannels. They are such a staple piece and they come in so many materials, colours and sizes, so it's always been easy for me to make excuses by saying: "I don't own a flannel like this one yet." I purchased this one because of the dark green that really encapsulates those fall vibes, and it's soft and warm all at once. Tip: I often size up in my flannels because the baggier the fit, the better.

As soon as summer is over, I also always get excited to bring out the leather, such as this skirt or leather leggings, jackets, booties and so on. Once again, a simple black skirt like this is a classic, so I know I'll be able to wear it for years to come. Plus it's faux leather and stretchy enough that it is very comfortable!

Last but not least, what's a basic bitch outfit without some basic accessories? Chokers have been all the rage in 2016 and I'm hoping they stick around for a long time. A small, dainty choker isn't only a Fall essential but simply an accessorizing staple in general. There are so many variations and styles of chokers now, but a simple faux suede or leather one is a cute touch to any outfit that you've got to own.

A good beanie is definitely another obvious Fall must-have. I bought this beanie a few years ago and it's still my favourite one. Not only are they trendy, but Beanie's are your friend - they help you out on those bad hair days or when you just can't be bothered to do your hair!

Lastly, I threw on these thigh-high boots which, if you don't own already, you're truly missing out. I believe that thigh-highs can instantly elevate a look and therefore, are always the first boots that I reach for. These ones are by Steve Madden and let me tell you: I've gone through my fair share of thigh-highs, but these one take the cake. They don't stretch out after many wears and are so affordable!

It was so much fun hunting for the perfect pumpkin. Next step: time to carve them! It was a small but busy farm and it felt extremely nostalgic seeing all the kids have fun getting into the Halloween spirit. As an adult, I still look forward to dressing up because I am always a kid at heart. BIRTHDAY WEEKEND IN TORONTO VLOG // 2017

My birthday has long come and gone, but I finally finished my vlog! At the beginning of June, Michelle and Tiff planned a bubble tea date, which wasn't out of the ordinary because we have those dates frequently. Tiff told "both of us" to close our eyes, so I assumed she had done something for both my sister and I. Little did I know, Michelle was a fucking snake and was in on the plan the entire time. Essentially, Tiff had planned for a road trip for the three of us to go see Ed Sheeran during my birthday weekend but of course both of his Toronto shows sold out in seconds. They decided to still surprise me and make a trip down anyways, so I opened my eyes to see two packs of polaroid film and a polaroid album for documenting our mini-vacation! As you'll see in the video, I was caught off guard and extremely confused throughout the entire surprise. I love this idea because not only does it keep all my photos in one place, but as my best friend, Tiff knows I have a terrible memory and need mementos in order to remember things (hence why I wanted to start vlogging).

Come my birthday weekend, I was so excited to go on my first ever trip with Tiff by my side! Before this trip, I wouldn't shut up about going on a roadie together so there's a high chance she planned this to get me to stop talking about it. We spent three days in Toronto, which was time spent eating, shopping and exploring. On the first day we stopped by the Premium Outlets after 5 long hours of driving and later, shopped some more at Square One, where we also had dinner at the Jamie Oliver Restaurant.

On the next day (my birthday!), we spent the entire day shopping at the Eaton Centre and walking around downtown Toronto. For dinner, we ate at an Italian restaurant called Piano Piano, which is incredibly beautiful both internally and externally. The smoked burrata is a must if you ever stop here to eat. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel to open presents and pop some champagne. To end my birthday, we stopped by Playdium in Mississauga and spent the entire night playing games because I am still a child.

I really enjoyed visiting the distillery district for the first time. If you love Japanese cuisine, you have to try Boku, which is where we had lunch and holy cow - the sushi was phenomenal. We took our time stopping by some shops, grabbing coffee and taking pictures. My favourite shop was one called Hoi Bo, where everything in store, from tops to dresses, pants and purses, are made locally. And our final stop before heading home was at Pacific Mall to shop and satisfy our Bubble Tea fix, of course.

Thanks Tiff for making all of this happen! Even though I didn't get to see 50 Cent or Ed Sheeran, nothing beats spending an entire weekend with my favourite people. There's always so much to do (and eat) in Toronto, so I can't wait to go back. Until then, I'm just going to be working until I can afford another shopping spree/trip.

SUMMER UNIFORM // OOTD

Alright, well I definitely didn't get as many Summer OOTD's as I had anticipated... To be honest, as much as I love rompers and summer dresses, I find styling Fall/Winter clothing more within my comfort zone. That's why I was excited to pull out a light sweater and be able to style it since it wasn't too hot on this particular day. Wearing a sweater with shorts or skirts has always been my favourite pairing, because I enjoy feeling cozy in a sweater but at the same time, I hate wearing pants. Anything that allows me to #freethelegs is my type of clothing aka I need to move somewhere with warmer temperature, ASAP.

For me, the highlight of this outfit is this striped skort. I'm sad to say that I bought it a few years ago, so it is no longer available. Appropriately enough, since it's currently that back-to-school time of year, this skort is definitely giving off some school-girl vibes. The asymmetrical cut, however, adds an edgy element that prevents it from looking too much like a school-girl uniform. I wore this outfit out to run errands with Tiff, then changed the shoes and top to transition the skort into a night out look, which exemplifies how versatile it is! It's always a plus when an item can be dressed either up or down.

How wicked is this sweater? Zara was having their end-of-the-season sale and I found this sitting alone in a neglected corner. Not going to lie, the rings on the sleeves annoyingly get caught on things from time to time, but not enough to falter the love that I have for it. I love an item that is simplistic enough for everyday wear but also bold enough that it adds a statement to an outfit, and that's exactly what this sweater does! Oh, and the fact that the rings make "music" when I wave my arms around like a maniac? Yup. My kind of sweater for sure.

I went off about how much I love these sneakers in my most recent Favourites post, so no surprise here that I'm sporting them on my feet for this look. Especially for running errands, which means lots of walking, these were a no-brainer.

If you are going back to school this year, I hope you have a great year and remember to not let the stress get to you. Besides, back-to-school is a great opportunity to buy new outfits, right? Fun fact: I used to procrastinate/skip class by going to the mall and spending money (that I didn't have) on clothes. Clearly, my reliance on retail therapy is a serious problem...

SPRING BEAUTY HAUL // 2017

I knew that my shopping ban would last until the Spring Sephora VIB sale came along. Funnily enough, I was one day away from breaking my 26 day record but I couldn't resist. Since the record was already broken, I went ahead and picked some things up from Wal-Mart as well. *Logic*.

I put these three items together because they are the only ones from this haul that I've already tried, loved and therefore had to repurchase. I've mentioned both the Too Faced mascara and the Bésame setting powder in previous favourites posts, and I've been using the Urban Decay Primer for over 5 years now (who hasn't?). These are some OG products right here so I know these will be purhcased time and time again.

I've been in dying need of both a pencil eyeliner and a new brush for my ABH Dipbrow pomade. I love my Buxom Gel liner but using a pencil is way more efficient on days I need to do my makeup quickly, so I don't know how I've gone this long without one. While browsing products online, I saw these mini lipsticks by Bite, which I've heard nothing but good things about so I am really looking forward to trying my first Bite Beauty products. How pretty are these colours!?

Lastly, these are my Wal-Mart purchases. I haven't tried the Real Techniques Sponge or Brushes yet, but I am absolutely in love with the Maybelline Cushion Foundation. This shade matches my (pale) skin tone so perfectly and I love that it has a natural look when applied. I don't like or need heavy coverage so this is my dream foundation, but you could easily layer it on if need be.

I'm no makeup expert for sure, but there's something about trying new products that brings me a whole new happiness. I'm saving my bigger makeup splurges for the Fall VIB sale so I kept this haul small. What products do you love from Sephora? Did you buy any exciting products from the VIB sale?

SPRING IS B[L]ACK // OOTD

Here's my first warm-weather OOTD of 2017! When Spring arrives, most people envision bright or pastel colours but my colour palette doesn't really change. This is what I like to call a true Laura outfit: an all black ensemble with a mixture of both feminine and masculine pieces. Whenever I don't know what to wear, I always find myself reaching for something flattering and girly but throwing in some more grungy, boyfriend-fit elements such as an oversized flannel, bomber or chunky combat boots.

In this case, I wore a tight bandeau top and bodycon skirt to keep my shape underneath this oversized mesh t-shirt (I had to go up a few sizes). On a Summer's night out, I'd probably leave it there and pair it with black heeled booties, but to keep it a bit more casual, I threw on my boyfriend varsity jacket and thigh high boots to keep me warm, since it isn't quite Summertime yet.

My favourite thing about wearing all black is creating a monochromatic look that's layered with a mixture of textures. In this outfit, I've included three different textures: the on-trend mesh, layered underneath a faux-suede/faux-leather jacket and the suede boots. The variety of textures adds dimension to keep the outfit from being too boring, which can happen if you're wearing all of the same colour and materials. I'd even be willing to make this outfit more bold by accessorizing with a coloured jacket or shoes, which would look equally as badass. It's all about wearing what makes you feel best!

Speaking of adding colour, I did so subtly by putting on my favourite reflective sunglasses that I've mentioned in a past OOTD. I think the pop of colour here really tops everything off by incorporating a change in contrast. Reflective lenses will always provide an edgy, effortless touch, which is why I find myself wearing them so often.
