Hi, it me! Yes I am still around, despite completely disregarding my blog for a very long time. It's been almost a year since my last outfit post, although it doesn't feel that long. It's crazy to look back to an old post and reflect on where I was then versus where I am presently, and how much has happened in between. Life changes in so many unexpected ways that sometimes we don't even realize how much it affects us on a daily basis.

But that being said, I'm back and ready to dive head first into spending my time doing what I love. Sometimes breaks are necessary, whether they are intentional or not, in order to refocus and feel inspired again. Which brings me here, with some brand new content as well as finishing up some old projects!

One of the biggest reasons I've been so busy this summer is from attending a whole lotta music festivals. I typically only go to one or two during the Summer, but this year, not only did I attend several different festivals, most of them involved lots of road trips! It's been one crazy Summer, but now that festival season is officially complete, sweater weather is just around the corner.

Pre-Autumn is my favourite weather to dress for. It's still hot enough for shorts or dresses, but cold enough to be paired with booties and sweaters because mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly. I have to admit, although Summer is my favourite season, I am looking forward to curling up in nothing but thick, oversized hoodies. Until then, here's an outfit I've been wearing to enjoy the remaining weeks of warm weather.

Skirt - Brandy Melville // Denim Jacket - Topshop // Top - Aritzia
Belt - Aritzia // Boots - Jeffrey Campbell // Bag - Gucci

This is what I call a classic Laura outfit, from the oversized boyfriend denim jacket down to the booties. I don't typically wear a lot of patterned clothing but plaid is always an exception, to the point where I think I may own too much of it. I'm absolutely obsessed with this plaid skirt from Brandy Melville and it comes in so many different colours and patterns. Red plaid is typically my first choice but I've been having a hard time resisting and getting it in other colours as well.

I just recently got these new Jeffrey Campbell boots - my first pair of rain boots. I turn 26 and finally own a pair of rain boots... am I a responsible adult now?? I found them at Nordstrom Rack so they were reasonably priced and nothing beats a Chelsea style bootie, except now the extra bonus is that I can splash around in puddles too. It was supposed to be a bit rainy this day, but it ended up being pretty warm and sunny so I wasn't able to fully test their water resistance to the full extent. They're fairly heavy but still comfortable to walk in.

I accessorized with a Western belt and my Gucci Disco bag, which is my first luxury purchase! I decided to treat myself last year for my 25th birthday and I had my eye on this bag for a while. I've used it non-stop ever since and I'm really happy with the size and capacity of the bag itself, which is what really drew me to it in the first place. I've got to admit, sometimes I second guess its' overall value for the price I paid ~ and that's the fucking tea ~ but that's a review for another post. I still love it regardless and honestly, based solely on how much I use it, it's been worth it for sure.

Lastly, I could not recommend this denim jacket more. It's been my go-to layer to throw over top of any outfit and I might even go to the extent of saying my most worn and favourite article of clothing of 2019 thus far. As always, I went up a size or two to get that stole-it-from-my-(non-existent)-boyfriend vibe, in addition to being able to fit thick hoodies underneath. It also adds a nice vintage look to any outfit. I love it so much that I recently bought a similar one in gray, because when you love something, why not purchase it in every other colour? That's a rule, right?

Hopefully we're hitting the ground running here and I'll be back soon with more content as opposed to coming back in another year from now... Oops. Other big life updates for me from the past  year include: a brand new job that I LOVE, I'm now blonde if you haven't noticed, I've started teaching shuffling classes, my sister moved to Toronto, a lot of loss but also a lot of learning and growth and last but not least, *drum roll please*, I have officially booked my next vacation!! It's been on my bucket list of places to visit for quite some time. Any guesses? Leave them in the comments below! Until then, goodbye Summer, hello Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

Congratulations on landing the new job teaching shuffles (I love your andCRASHx YouTube channel videos!) and congrats on booking your next vacation - I can't wait to read about it. I don't have a clue where you'll be vacationing. Cluelessly I'll guess at Toronto for a Summer Vacay??? Wherever you go, I hope you have a wonderful time!
